Exactly what I thought it would be. Fractured family, quirky characters, bittersweet themes, minor tragedy, life lessons: standard Sundance bullshit that I'm totally sick of. I'd like to take all the Thumbsuckers and Tadpoles and Pieces of Aprils and Junebugs and dump them in a river somewhere. What really bugs me is how the writer and/or director have such thinly veiled contempt and condescention towards the characters and yet they try to make it look like sympathy and affection for them.
